CEO Insights: Driving Innovation in Material Estimation with AI
JCAD’s CEO Pentti Räihä tells insights into our new AI tool, what it does in practice, what benefits our customers are already seeing and what is coming next.
Speeding up Quantity Takeoffs with AI
The importance of material estimation is going to be on the rise. The industry is changing at a fast pace. New technology is shaping the economy and making processes far more efficient than before.
– Quantity surveyors’ expertise together with AI is reshaping the whole industry. We have already heard from our customers that more accurate takeoffs have resulted in projects that are built on a stronger foundation, timelines that are easier to maintain and unexpected costs having decreased, describes Räihä.
According to Räihä, the AI tool makes takeoffs more accurate with less manual work.
– Efficiency, accuracy and reliability are key needs for our customers which we want to focus on by continuously developing our technology, Räihä points out.
Development driven by customer insight
– From the start, we have listened to the feedback from our customers and built solutions based on their needs, Räihä emphasizes.
JCAD’s AI tool was created not by focusing solely on technology, but through ongoing dialogue with clients. Räihä highlights that using customer feedback has been key to successful development and will continue to be important in the future. Development will continue to be customer-driven so that the product will meet customer needs and support the efficiency of projects in the future versions.
Vision: Towards Highly Automated Takeoffs
JCAD’s vision is to make material estimation as highly automated as possible. AI’s purpose is to free up time from the professional to focus on analytics, risk management and decision making.
– The experts’ role will focus on reviewing, refining and interpreting results to support accurate project outcomes. That’s exactly where human experience adds the most value. AI remains a tool and must never take the lead at any stage, Räihä remarks.
According to Räihä, AI will speed up and optimize the progress of construction projects, but above all, it creates the foundation for better projects.
